The 15 yard container in Augusta, GA
The 15 yard is the size Vaughn Bros points people toward when a 10 yard is clearly too tight but a full 20 yard feels like overkill. It's the middle ground for a two-room remodel, a full garage-plus-shed cleanout, or a smaller single-layer roof tear-off on a ranch or bungalow — the kind of house you'll find all over Richmond and Columbia County outside the newer subdivisions.
It still fits on a standard residential driveway with room for the truck to maneuver, which matters in close-set neighborhoods in Martinez, Evans, and Grovetown where side yards and shared drives leave less room to work with. If your project is bigger than one room but you're not gutting the whole house, this is usually the size that lines up best with what you'll actually fill.
What fits in a 15 yard
Think four to six pickup truck loads. That's enough for the debris from a kitchen and a bathroom combined, a full garage and attached shed, old carpet and padding pulled from several rooms, or a single-layer asphalt shingle tear-off on a smaller roof. It's also a common choice for estate cleanouts on smaller CSRA homes where the volume is real but not overwhelming.
When to size up instead
If you're tearing off a roof with more than one layer of shingles, clearing a whole floor of a house, or combining a remodel with a furniture and appliance cleanout, the 15 yard fills up faster than most people expect. In that case the 20 yard gives meaningful extra room for a modest jump in footprint, and it's worth telling us the full scope of the job when you call so we can steer you to the right size the first time.
Capacity
What actually fits in a 15 yard container
Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what stops most loads.
| Material | How much fits |
|---|---|
| Kitchen and bathroom remodel | cabinets, tile, drywall, and fixtures from both rooms combined |
| Garage and shed cleanout | a full garage plus an attached or backyard shed, cleared out |
| Single-layer roof tear-off | asphalt shingles from a smaller ranch or bungalow roof |
| Flooring removal | carpet, padding, and subfloor from two to three rooms |
| Small estate cleanout | furniture and belongings from a modest single-story home |

Placing a 15 yard container on an Augusta-area property
The 15 yard is a common call from the older bungalow and ranch streets around Augusta and Harlem, and from turnover cleanouts in the newer Columbia County neighborhoods around Martinez and Evans. As with any size, if the container sits entirely on your driveway or private lot you generally don't need a permit inside Augusta-Richmond County; if it has to sit in the street or right-of-way, an Encroachment Permit from the Augusta Engineering Department applies. Outside Augusta itself, we haven't verified a specific local ordinance for every CSRA town, so it's worth a quick call to your town or county office to confirm before you order.

15 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked
What's the difference between a 10 and 15 yard for a remodel?
About 50% more capacity and a bigger tonnage allowance, at a modest step up in footprint. If your project covers two rooms instead of one, or combines a remodel with a cleanout, the 15 usually fits better than stretching a 10.
Can a 15 yard handle a roof tear-off?
For a single layer of asphalt shingles on a smaller roof, yes. Multi-layer tear-offs or larger roofs put more weight and volume into the container than a 15 yard is built for, so ask us about a 20 yard instead.
How much driveway space does a 15 yard need?
Roughly the same footprint as the 10 yard with a bit more length. Most standard single-car and double-car driveways around the CSRA handle it without issue.
Is the 15 yard good for an estate cleanout?
For a smaller single-story home, often yes. Larger homes or ones with a garage full of belongings tend to fill a 15 yard faster than expected, so tell us the size of the home when you call.
