Generally yes, within reason. An extra couple of yards of container space costs less than paying for a second delivery, and it's easier to under-fill a slightly bigger dumpster than to run out of room on a smaller one. We'll tell you honestly if you're overthinking it, though — not every job needs the biggest option.

Often yes, and this catches people off guard. Concrete, dirt, and shingles are heavy for their volume and can hit a weight allowance in a smaller container long before it looks full. Bulky light material like furniture or yard waste fills up the space first. Tell us the material mix and we'll size around weight, not just volume.

Yes — describe the driveway or placement area when you call (width, any gate or overhang, slope) and we'll recommend a size and placement that actually fits, rather than delivering something too long for the space.

If the container sits entirely on private property — your driveway or yard — a permit generally isn't required. Permits come into play when a container needs to sit in the public right-of-way, such as a street or alley.

Augusta, Georgia (Augusta-Richmond County consolidated government) requires a Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit, administered by the Augusta Engineering Department, for anything placed in the public right-of-way — a street, alley, or city easement. A dumpster placed entirely on private property, like a driveway, generally does not need one. This is published guidance from Augusta's own Right of Way Encroachment Guidelines.

We haven't been able to verify a specific municipal permit rule for Martinez, Evans, Grovetown, Hephzibah, Blythe, Harlem, Appling, Waynesboro, Thomson, North Augusta, Aiken, Clearwater, Belvedere, Burnettown, or New Ellenton. Rules can vary by city and county, and we'd rather tell you that plainly than guess. If your placement might touch the street, call your town or county office to confirm before you order.

It can — permitting is handled at the city or county level, not by state, so Richmond County, Columbia County, and Aiken County can each have their own approach. We can confidently speak to Augusta/Richmond County's published rule; for every other jurisdiction on both sides of the river, confirm with the local office before placing anything off your own property.

Regulated and hazardous items are the main category to avoid across virtually every jurisdiction: things like tires, batteries, paint, solvents, refrigerants-containing appliances, and similar hazardous materials usually aren't allowed in a standard roll-off. Ask us when you book if you're not sure whether something in your load qualifies — it's easier to sort that out before delivery than after.
